Thomas Rhett rang in the new year right, sharing a kiss with his wife Lauren after a performance in Times Square in New York City.

Rhett was one of the superstar musical acts on the bill for the 2016 Dick Clark New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest, along with Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Demi Lovato and Flo Rida. He performed two of his biggest hits from his smash sophomore album, Tangled Up -- "T-Shirt" and the multi-week No. 1 smash "Die a Happy Man," which is nominated for Best Country Song in the upcoming 2017 Grammy Awards.

Rhett's wife was on hand to see in the new year with him, which is only appropriate, since she served as the inspiration for both of those songs, as well as his current single, "Star of the Show."

The couple took a spot on the elevated platform along with Seacrest, Gloria Estefan, Carey and DNCE to count down the new year and ring it in with a kiss, but it didn't go quite smoothly at first -- the countdown got ahead of the ball somehow, and the couple joined the rest of the crowd on hand in repeating part of the count in their post to Instagram before locking lips to celebrate the kickoff to 2017.

2017 already looks to be another banner year for the young singer, who won Single of the Year for "Die a Happy Man" at the 2016 CMA Awards. He will head out on his first headlining tour, the Home Team Tour, along with Kelsea Ballerini, Ryan Hurd and Russell Dickerson. The tour launches on Feb. 23 and continues through March, concluding with two shows in Nashville. He was also recently announced as one of the headliners for Country Jam 2017 in Colorado in June, where he'll join fellow headliners Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Justin Moore and Randy Houser.
