Thompson Square Cry Tears of Joy While Celebrating Success of ‘Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not’

Thompson Square, along with their friends, family and colleagues, gathered Tuesday afternoon (May 3) in downtown Nashville to celebrate the success of their first No. 1 single, 'Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not.' Complete with a Hershey's Kiss chocolate bar, Keifer and Shawna Thompson were humbled and moved by the outpouring support at both parties at BMI and ASCAP where they honored the hot duo, as well as the songwriters, David Lee Murphy and Jim Collins.

After plaques were handed out, the husband and wife duo took the microphone to thank everybody from the bottom of their hearts as they did their best to keep their composure.

"We can't hardly believe this. We're criers, so get ready for it," Keifer joked as tears filled his eyes. "This means absolutely everything to me and Shawna. We never thought this would happen. This has changed our lives."

"If it weren't for Keifer, I wouldn't even be standing here today," Shawna added while crying tears of joy. "I thank God for you every day."

Thompson Square then presented their parents with plaques commemorating the success of the chart-topping song that broke many records. 'Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not' is the No. 2 top selling country single of 2011, as it surpassed the one million mark in digital downloads this week. The song's video also had its share of success. Just this year, the video has remained in the Top 5 most streamed videos every week.

"Jim and I have such a unique chemistry when we write songs together," David Lee Murphy told Taste of Country prior to the party. "When we write together, we just know something good is going to come out of it. This song was just that. We knew we had something special."

Thompson Square's new single, 'I Got You,' premiered earlier this month. The tune was written by Keifer and Shawna, along with Jason Sellers and Paul Jenkins.
