The Thunder on the Mountain country music festival that was scheduled for later this month has been canceled.

The festival was slated to take place at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Ark. from June 26-28, with headliners Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band and the Band Perry. But on Saturday (June 13), just two weeks before the event, organizers announced on the festival's Facebook page that it would not go forward.

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to hold Thunder on the Mountain," the post reads. "A separate statement will be sent to ticket holders."

No further explanation has been given for the decision, but festival organizers did clarify that it was not due to sponsors pulling out. "Be aware the cancelation has NOTHING to do with #Thunder2015 sponsors," they wrote in a separate Facebook post. "Sponsors did what they could and were fully supportive of our event."

Other artists scheduled to appear included Big & Rich, Sara Evans, Eli Young Band, Jerrod Niemann and Colt Ford. The news is particularly disappointing for Underwood's fans; the festival would have marked her first return to touring since she gave birth to her son in February.

The event's website does not make clear how the refund process will work for fans who have already purchased tickets to Thunder on the Mountain.
