Despite his storied music career and dozens of awards, Tim McGraw is about as down-to-earth as it gets. As successful as his music career has been for the past few decades, McGraw is still quick to admit that his family comes first -- no matter what.

In a promotional spot for Big Machine Label Group, McGraw talked about his successful 17-year marriage to country songstress Faith Hill, and their three children. These days it's not common for celebrity couples to stay together for very long, let alone just shy of two decades. But the 'One of Those Nights' hitmaker insists that making his family No. 1 has helped keep his marriage healthy.

“We made a conscious decision when we got married, that no matter what, if we were going to start a family that that was going to be our first priority and everything else was sorta just gonna find its place,” McGraw explains. “For better or worse -- for our careers' better or worse or whatever -- that’s always been our core understanding and our core principal, is putting our family first.”

In addition to helping his marriage to Hill, McGraw added that putting his family first has kept the country couple's kids from spiraling out of control.

“I think that’s paid off in our kids and their lives and how we’ve given them as much of a normal life as we can in a situation that they’re in,” he says.

Although family comes first for McGraw, he'll be hitting the road for his Two Lanes of Freedom Tour next month. If this interview is any indication, we have a feeling that his beautiful wife and kids will meet up with him somewhere along the way.
