Despite its hilarious name, 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' was an important step in Trace Adkins' career. Not only did the single peak at No. 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart, but it also hit the Top 40 on Billboard's Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts.

The crossover success of 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' earned Adkins a slot on the Top 100 Country Songs countdown. The song was released after Adkins' contribution to traditional country music landed him a membership in the Grand Ole Opry. Just weeks later, he released 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' and started to attract fans from the pop genre.
