Trent Harmon got a huge honor recently when he got to play the Grand Ole Opry. The final American Idol champ stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio and told us about that opportunity before playing a Chris Stapleton cover.

On Aug. 27, Harmon got up on stage and made his Opry debut. He performed two songs including his single, "There's a Girl." The Mississippi native said it was all a whirlwind and he didn't even realize how important the moment was until later.

“That happened really quickly," he shares. "It happened so quickly that I really didn’t get to process it until I laid down that night to go to sleep and I was replaying it in my head like it was a movie. I was like, ‘Crap. That was a big deal.’"

"People will tell you, ‘You haven’t really done anything until you’ve played the Opry.' That’s day zero and the day after that is day one. You go forward from there and it’s kind of true, you can make an argument for that.”

When he played the legendary stage he also performed "What Are You Listening To?" a song we were fortunate to see live in the studio. The song is one of his favorites, a track he never gets tired of that he also brought to Idol.

Harmon's "There's a Girl" is currently battling for the top spot on Taste of Country Top 10 Countdown. Fans can buy that track on iTunes before his album drops at the "first of the year."
