Tristan McIntosh brought millions of Americans to tears after her American Idol audition earlier this month. This week, she had a chance for an encore version of “Why Baby Why” with Mickey Guyton standing right beside her.

The 15-year-old stood alongside Guyton as her parents stood in the audience at Marathon Music Works in Nashville. Her mom, Maj. Amy McIntosh, is set to retire from the Army later this month. It was her surprise appearance at the end of Tristan's Idol audition that left everyone reaching for tissues. The singer thought her mother was in the Middle East, but she returned in time to see her daughter sing for the judges.

McIntosh and Guyton traded vocals on Tuesday night (Jan. 26) before joining together for the chorus of this song from Guyton’s self-titled EP. It was one of five songs the “Better Than You Left” me singer performed before giving way to the night’s headliner, Eric Paslay. He brought out a few guest stars of his own — including Jake Owen and Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild — as he rolled through his hits and several new songs from an album expected in 2016.

American Idol resumed Wednesday with the Hollywood Week performances. From there, the finalists will be chosen. McIntosh, a Nashville native, is considered to be a favorite in the competition. Judge Jennifer Lopez even said "She might win" after the teen finished making everyone weepy.
