Worst Country Wardrobe Malfunctions

Carrie Underwood has a fool-proof way to protect against wardrobe malfunctions. Beneath each dress or short skirt, she wears a pair of shorts. That way, if she falls, the fans in the front five rows don’t get way, way more than they paid for. The same can’t be said for Jake Owen, Taylor Swift and Sheryl Crow, three stars who were caught awkwardly trying to cover up something that should always stay covered in public.

Dolly Parton and Julianne Hough also make this list of country stars who’ve been faced with wardrobe malfunctions, and there’s picture proof for each disaster. Hey, it happens — you’re having such a good time that you forget the gown you’re wearing doesn’t leave enough room for a bead of sweat to fall, let alone a high leg kick.

Dolly Parton at the 1978 CMA Awards

Wardrobe malfunctions are nothing new. Stars like Dolly Parton have been coming up with creative ways to hide splits for decades. The star's gown ripped just as she was to accept the Entertainer of the Year award at the 1978 CMAs, but thanks to a good friend, she was able to cover -- and recover.

Sheryl Crow's Skirt Proves to Be Too Short

Sheryl Crow took ownership of her unintentional reveal toward the end of the CMT Awards in 2011. It happened during a duet with Kid Rock. Later, she took the stage to present an award. "Well, at least you were wearing underwear," quipped co-presenter Sara Evans.

Julianne Hough Parties Too Hard

Julianne Hough just partied right out of her dress! The form-fitting ensemble she wore to the 2013 Golden Globes didn't allow her to strut her stuff on the dance floor after the show, so she customized. Actually, the two rips were not her intention. "I love to dance regardless of how expensive a dress may be ... You can't hold me down!!!" she tweeted.

Jake Owen's 'Jump'

For guys, it's not about the disasters on the red carpet as much as it is about the disasters on stage. Jake Owen was singing Van Halen's 'Jump' when he jumped and ... split his jeans. “Tonight was totally 'nuts,'" he wrote after the show. At least his makeshift fix was brilliant.

Taylor Swift's Least Favorite Fan

The wind machine wasn't supposed to be on during 'You Belong With Me.' Swift was in a flattering purple dress when she walked toward the front of the stage, and then ... whoops! “I walked over there thinking it wasn’t on and it just kind of blew it up a little bit," she told Ryan Seacrest. "I was sort of like, ‘Well, that’s new’ and just continued the show.”
