WE Fest 2016 Lineup: Joe Nichols
Joe Nichols' unique vocal style and traditional country leanings have made him a country music favorite for the last 15 years.
The Arkansas native played in some early rock bands and worked as a disc jockey before releasing his self-titled first album in 1996. Nichols also struggled through a short-lived deal with Giant Records before signing to Universal South for his second album, Man With a Memory, which became his breakthrough with the success of “The Impossible.” Nichols has gone on to a string of hits that includes “Brokenheartsville,” “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” and “Gimmie That Girl.”
The deep-voiced singer signed a new deal with Red Bow Records in 2012 and released a new album, Crickets, in 2013, scoring two No. 1 hits with "Sunny & 75" and "Yeah." He explored a new country-rock sound with the release of "Freaks Like Me" in 2015, and most recently dropped a new single, "Undone," that flirts with some more contemporary elements while still retaining his signature vocal style.
He's likely to bring those songs, as well as some interesting covers and more, to the stage on Thursday (Aug. 4) when he performs at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He'll help kick off the festival along with a stellar Day 1 lineup that includes Amanda Watkins, LoCash, Lee Brice and headliner Eric Church. Kid Rock and Tim McGraw will headline the other two nights at Soo Pass Ranch, topping off the kind of stellar lineup that has made WE Fest one of the biggest festivals of its kind in North America.
