Whiskey Myers have created a lyrics video for their latest single, "Shelter From the Rain," and they are sharing it first exclusively with Taste of Country readers.

The song is the latest single from the acclaimed 2014 album Early Morning Shakes, which provided the Texas-based group with a career breakthrough. The project earned critical acclaim from media outlets as diverse as Country Weekly, Rolling Stone and even the Wall Street Journal. They worked with producer Dave Cobb — whose credits include Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson and Shooter Jennings — on the album, which hit No. 1 on the iTunes Country chart immediately after release, resulting in a No. 1 Billboard Digital Country Albums chart debut and a Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

The group — composed of Cody Cannon, Cody Tate, John Jeffers, Jeff Hogg and Gary Brown — are steeped in the traditions of southern rock, but also draw from R&B, psychedelic rock and even string band music for their sound. The band members enjoy a musical bond like few others.

“Well, we all grew up together,” Brown explains. “We’re two sets of cousins. Some of us have been friends since we were two or three years old.”

“Plus, after six years touring in a van together, you know each other through and through," Cannon adds. "We know who we are, and try our best to stay true to ourselves and to our music.”

Early Morning Shakes is available at iTunes. Keep up with Whiskey Myers at their website, or follow the group on Twitter and Facebook.
