Country legend Willie Nelson was forced to cancel his planned performance at a fundraiser in Castle Pines Village in Colorado on Saturday, August 18. The tireless singer and pot proponent, 79, reportedly pulled out of his appearance due to health problems.

It's not certain what health ailments Nelson was suffering from, but it was clearly serious enough for him to miss an appearance. The Denver Post reports that Fred Bartlit, the host of the Lulu's Barkin' BBQ fundraiser for the Dumb Friends League, which was held at his home, confirmed that Nelson bowed out due to ill health. He said, "I was told Willie woke up and had trouble breathing, so he was taken to the hospital."

The cancelation was also confirmed by Chris Gallegos, a spokesman for the Dumb Friends League. Gallegos could not comment further or provide additional details due to a confidentiality agreement.

Taste of Country hopes that this was just an isolated incident and that Nelson is doing better after this health scare.
