The very first winner of 'Nashville Star' would go on to land two Top 5 hits, including his debut 'Help Pour Out the Rain' in 2003. The soft-spoken Arkansas native told the story of his daughter, Lacey, who truly asked if God would let her help pour out the rain when she goes to heaven.

The song was written years before Buddy Jewell won the reality show, and Trace Adkins almost cut it, but let go of it just before Jewell began performing on the show. This meant he could use it for himself. The double burst of good fortune helped him notch a gold record.
