Devin Dawson Announces Debut Album, ‘Dark Horse’
One of country music's rising stars is ready to release his debut album. Devin Dawson has announced that Dark Horse will drop just after the new year in 2018.
Dawson co-wrote all 12 of the album's songs, including the title track that serves as one of four instant gratification tracks fans get when they pre-order the album. The up-and-coming singer-songwriter collaborated with top songwriters Luke Laird, Josh Kerr, Barry Dean, Seth Ennis and more on the project.
“I'm beyond excited to FINALLY share the release date for my debut album. And when it came time to choose a title, nobody talked about other options — we knew immediately it should share the same name as the track ‘Dark Horse,’" Dawson shares in a press release. "Despite being written after the album was ‘finished,’ I felt it was absolutely necessary to include this song. ‘Dark Horse’ captures every corner of my heart, everything I am and everything I believe in.”
Dawson is on the road with Michael Ray on his 2017 Get to You Tour through Dec. 9. This stint with his fellow newcomer follows opening gigs for some of the genre's biggest names — Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Maren Morris and Dan + Shay, to name a few. Dawson is a graduate of Nashville's Belmont University and released his debut single "All on Me" in 2017. He was launched into fame after Taylor Swift shared his mashup of her hits "Style" and "Blank Space" in 2014.
Dark Horse is set for release on Jan. 19.
