Johnny Paycheck found radio success intermittently throughout his five decades as a country music singer. The 1977 hit 'Take This Job and Shove It' was by far his most successful single, however. It was his only No. 1 record, and the title-track from his only album to go platinum for one million copies sold. The Top 100 Country Songs list would lack attitude without this song's inclusion.

Paycheck's working man anthem is constantly revisited with every labor dispute, depression or recession. Interestingly, he wasn't the first to cut this song. David Allan Coe wrote and recorded it just before Paycheck.
