Post Malone + Jelly Roll’s Duet, ‘Losers,’ Is an Underdog Story [Listen]
When it came time to duet with Jelly Roll on his upcoming F-1 Trillion album, Post Malone picked a song that makes perfect sense for them both.
That song, called "Losers," is a celebration of the have-nots — something that Jelly has sung about quite a lot.
Early on in his mainstream country career, songs like "Save Me" and "Son of a Sinner" established him as a hero for anyone who's ever felt down and out. His personal story is an inspiration to many, too: He went from a drug dealer incarcerated on felony charges to one of country music's brightest stars.
Meanwhile, while Post is a big name, he's something of an underdog in country music, as he's made his way into the genre from the hip-hop world. Neither Jelly nor Post have the typical country music story behind them, which makes it all the more compelling when they come together to sing lines like, "Let's hear it for the losers."
Ahead of F-1 Trillion's Aug. 16 release day, Post shared a snippet of losers on his social media, posting a 33-second clip of the song's chorus.
"If you're living like you've got nothing to lose / There's a spot for you beside me on this stool / Come kick it with the losers ..." the song goes at the beginning of the clip.
"Losers" is one of a slew of collaborations on F-1 Trillion, a project that sees Posty teaming up with some of the biggest names and most talented stars in country music. The album's lead single, "I Had Some Help," is a duet with Morgan Wallen.
Other duet partners include Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton and many more. F-1 Trillion will arrive on Aug. 16.
