I think that that may have who knows who might have been in the crowd that night from that camp. I don't know. But um but I I know it's a really cool partnership and um you know I I wear jockey stuff like I'm currently I don't know if I could talk about this. I'm wearing jockey underwear. >> Sure, man. As long as you don't I mean I guess I mean I don't know if you could shine that you [laughter] >> uh and you're on your third album man. But this is a 10year town. So like a lot of people if if you're a radio listener a lot of people are like and you know me I'm like this is a new artist. Yeah. >> This is a new artist. check them out. But it's your third album, so how does that affect your mental at all or No, >> I mean, I think I'm I think I'm I'm having a great time with everything, you know, and and uh I mean, for a lot of people, it takes six, seven, eight, sometimes more albums to get recognition, you know, and so I mean, to even be in a room like this right now shows me I'm on my I'm on the right path, you know. So, getting in my head about it, no, I I don't think so. I think I think it's all working out. Guys got a plan. And I mean, hell, it sounds like we're about to have our own underwear, so it must be really working out. [laughter] >> Would you want these same fans to go back and listen to your first album? >> Absolutely. >> Yeah, absolutely. I I feel like one of my best bodies of work was my first full-length album, the Born for This album. That was just like a a [snorts] really I'm talking songs that I had sat on for years and years and years and some of the most heartfelt stuff I've ever written in my life. So, yeah, that that album's probably one of my favorites. But this new one, chase, it's called chase. You know, it's like it's a cool way to self-title it. And also chase is, you know, it's a verb. It's a it's a action. And so, um, to chase something, we're all chasing something. And that's kind of something I I I last year I said, okay, we're going into 2025. Like, what do I want to push this year? Like, what's my brand this year? Like, what is my thing that I want to do? And I think just using my name and and also, like I said, the adjective. Is it adjective? Is that the right way to explain that? adjective chase. I I don't know. I done got my work. I dropped out of high school, bro. [laughter] Um but you know, just that's the motivation I want to do this year, man. What people chase their dreams, man. >> Well, and you've been doing that, dude. Cuz people need to know last year you played 145 shows. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I busted out my calculator earlier. That is the average of a show every two and a half days. >> Y >> for a whole year. What is the biggest challenge in performing that much? >> Well, if all of them were spaced out in two and a half days apart, that would be u that would be easier to do, but they're not. So, it's like it's, you know, f it's most time it's Thursday, Friday, Saturday, sometimes Sunday, sometimes Wednesday all the way through Sunday, you know. >> Wow. Okay. >> So, who knows? But um most times it's you know if it's 145 shows if we have that many booked then you know there's a travel day in between so I can have time to rest my voice. >> And uh if I'm having a show every other day I'm never really having you know vocal cord problems. I'm I'm pretty I'm thugging it out pretty good. But but uh yeah sometimes you get like those four or five in a row and you're like you're whooped. You know you're trying to find you know ways to like stay awake and just stay moving cuz jet lag is a real thing. I I had never experienced it till uh we went to Australia this past, you know, month. And uh that was my first time ever having hard-hitting like jet lag. Okay. >> But uh yeah, man, when you throw it out on the stage, you know, you you got to make sure you're staying healthy. And I just started drinking these things called Magic Mind. Y'all ever heard of them? >> No. >> So, this is not a paid promotion. Okay. I wish it was cuz I need more. Um, [laughter] but it's called Magic Mind and it's like a little like um I don't know if you call it neutropic, neutropics, whatever they call it. It's got like lion's mane in it, caffeine and just stuff like that and it keeps me >> keeps me motivated and talking my ass off as you can tell right now. >> That's good. [laughter] I'm glad. Well, tell me how it was like in Australia with Keith Urban, man. >> Oh, dude. Well, I mean, it's Keith Urban, right? First off, it's Keith Urban. He's >> royalty over there, man. You walk around like that at people, you know, you walk to the airport, right, in in Australia cuz we were flying to each one. You can't you can't drive a bus over there, right? So, uh, we're uh not I mean, you could drive a bus there, you just can't take my bus over there, [laughter] but uh but yeah, you're in the airport and people are like, "Are y'all a band?" We're like, "Yeah." And they're like, "What's your band?" We're like, "Chase Matthew." They're like, "Oh, okay." And then we go, "We're with Keith Urban." And they're like, "Oh my god. Oh [laughter] my god. What's he like? What's Nicole Kidman like? What was you know?" It's like it's like, dude, people freak out. It's really Yeah, it's pretty cool. So, um yeah, I think I I gained new fans just strictly off cuz people think I I'm good, you know, friends with Keith Urban. They're like, "Oh, he knows Keith. He must be cool. >> What's it like? What's Nicole Kimman like?" >> Yeah. Well, I met her. Yeah. For real. Yeah. Uh met her once um on the tour. It was the first night of tour. Very nice. Um I I you know, I didn't watch a lot of movies growing up, so I didn't realize how big of a star she is, so that's really cool. Um, I'd come off stage and Keith was side stage with her and they both came running over and just like gave me the biggest hugs ever and it as they come to approach me for a hug. I'm like I'm like, "Oh, hey, I'm so sweaty. Like you don't want to do that." They're just like just like like, "Oh my god, you were great." And and that was cool, you know? So, >> wow. Okay. >> I think that's something I'll tell my kids about one day. Um, >> have you met his kids? >> I met uh his daughter um at the Megan show. They had came out to the Megan show. We were opening for her here in Nashville. Um, uh, and then I think I think he's got more than just one kid, right? >> Yeah, a couple. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. So, I I think I may have met another one, but not [laughter] sure. Yeah. >> That's cool, man. Whatever. And let's see. You open for uh Luke Bryan. >> Yeah. Luke Bryan, Jason Aldine last year. >> Okay. Give me What did uh give me the end of tour gifts. What did uh what did Luke Bryan get you? >> I don't know if Luke got me. >> Okay. So it was it was just a you know Louis bag and then uh we told him hey we got you new hunting bag when we gave it to him and uh gave a few of his team members some some watch holders and stuff as well. Um so that that was cool. Jason got me a Rolex um custom Rolex with u the tour engraved in the back of it and stuff like that. Me and Austin Snell he gave us those. Those were really cool. I've never had a Rolex. I didn't even know what it was. So, they give it to me, right? This is crazy. So, I got him in the tour gift I got him was a massive AR. I got him a custom rifle with all the Jason Aldine logos in it. Like, what? >> It's gangster, bro. It's so sick. But, um, so I gave him that and then he turns around goes, "Well, I got you something, too." And I was like, "Oh, wow." Okay. So, I open this up and it's a box and it's got this logo on. I'm like, "Feel like I've seen that before." And so, I open it up and it's a watch. And everybody's like, "It's a Rolex." And I'm like, "Oh, oh, wow." cuz I don't know anything about watches, you know? I don't even know what time it is right now. But [laughter] yeah, dude, I thought that was really cool. So, now I've got it. I've wore it one time to an event that he invited me to. Um, it was like a fundraiser event and and that thing was so heavy on my wrist. I I I just I'm not a fan of watches. I'm just That's not my thing. I can't pull off a watch. I just I don't know. My my hands are too big or something. I don't know. But it looks sick in the photos, though, dude. Hey, I'm over here like this. >> Which one did he give you? Do you know? Uh, it's uh I don't know. My manager knows. He's a watch guy. But it's cool as though. I I mean, sorry. Can I cuss? My bad. Accident. Um, but I've got it like posted up in my house. Like it's like I've got like a little glass cabinet with like all the little knick-knacks and stuff. And then I got this like this Rolex with like this card from Jason Aline. And so every time friends come over I'm like, "Yeah, yeah. Jason Aline gave me that right there." You know? When the way I found out about the tour, somebody told me uh you do you know BOC? Uh Brian O'Connell, he's at Live Nation. And u and and he was tell he came over to me at the Luke tour on the Luke Bryant tour. He's like, "Man," he's like smoking a cigarette. He's like [sighs] He's like, "Man, I got to tell you something." He's like like spacing it out, right? Like creating these cinematic gaps in the conversation, right? So he's like, "I got to tell you something. You got a big fan." I'm like, "Okay." He goes, "I'm like like a like you like you need a big fan or like like what do you mean?" Like he's like, "No, man. Keith Urban's called me six times this week and will not stop bugging me about getting you on tour with him. I'm like, Keith Urban knows who I am? That's the wildest thing ever. Right. So, that blew my mind. >> That's crazy. >> Yeah. So, that that was a crazy one. That one and like probably like uh there was some other one. There's a lot of people that have surprised me like that. But Keith Urban was probably the most like wow moment, you know? >> That's cool, man. What's the most memorable fan moment you've had at a meet and greet? Man, dude, there's a there's a lot. Um I think I think there's probably a few of them that really stuck out with like song lyrics. People get like my lyrics like tattooed on them. >> Um and then there's this one dude. [laughter] This one dude I thought he was kidding. I I shouldn't have bet against him. [laughter] >> He said he pulls his shirt up, right? He goes, >> "Sign my, you know, >> yeah, >> sign my" And I'm like, "Really?" Okay. He's like, "I'm going to get it tattooed." I said, "You won't do it." He said, "Yeah, I am." He said, "Sign it big all the way across my chest." >> What? >> Oh, he did it. >> He did it. >> Yeah. He showed up to the show the next night about an hour and a half away from the other show and dude had my name tattooed all the way across. I'm talking damn near to his belly button. >> I hope he's already married. >> I hope I um Don't do that, guys. Like, that that was funny. It was funny, [laughter] but like it's not going to be funny for the rest of your life. Like >> Yeah. So, um yeah, I I signed his um entire chest. Yeah. >> Who would be that for you though? Let's say let's say you someone was like, "Yo, you either got to get a country artist signature or their face tatted on your chest." >> Who would it be for you? >> Country music artist. [laughter] >> I I'd probably put Jason's face on my arm. I think that'd be funny just to be like, "Jason, hey, check this out, bro. I've been working on this new tattoo, bro. And bam. And it' just be like It'd be Jason, but I'd like make his forehead like really big just to make it funny. You know >> what would he say? >> He would probably He'd probably laugh. >> Yeah. Grab him. So, what's next for you, man? Like, uh, uh, albumwise? >> Yeah. Um, well, I'm already working on new music. I'm always working on new music. I mean, it never stops. I'm a creative man. It's not an option for me to be able to turn it off. It just it just comes to you. And when it does, you got to be able to, >> you know, >> voice record it, voice memo with it or pick up a guitar and >> or sometimes I start with just typing lyrics, you know. Um, but man, it's it's been a blessing. I've been able to work with some really cool people uh over the past few years and it's it's opened a lot of doors for us being at country radio as well, you know. It's uh it's a whole different game and just a in a great way. It's just like this new I didn't realize how much radio fans are so much different than people that just like follow the social media game, you know? There there is a dieh hardcore fan base in radio and uh it's uh it's been a lot of fun, man. I've I've met a lot of people through it and it's it's really inspired so many different songs too for me. Um wow. >> So yeah, I've got a lot of new music I'm working on. Um, a lot of uh I would say collaborations in the works as well that I can't spill the beans on yet, but >> Love the Lauren Elena one. >> Oh man, so much fun. I I don't think I've ever heard of that. Um so I think he's on the right track, but geez, it's so it's like trying to get your rich uncle a gift. Like h how do you get somebody that is of a higher status a gift that isn't, you know, crap? >> Well, two thoughts on this. First of all, he's hit some home runs, right? like the Louis Vuitton bag for Luke Bryant and then he g gifted Keith Urban this like elegant like guitar created by this Hawaiian cultural artist that has all this personal meaning and we did a video on this it Keith Urban literally broke down in tears when he received it. Second thought is if I'm like Shane Profett or some of these other artists, I'm like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Time out here, Shane. Uh, time out here, Chase. You know, you're resetting the precedent here. I was fine as it is. I don't have the money to be giving Jason Aldine a Rolex or an AR or whatever he said he got him." >> Yeah, that's like the old adage of uh, you know, when a new kid comes on to work at the factory and it's doing twice as much work, you're like, "Hey, slow down, kid. you're going to make us all look bad. So, yeah, I think I think that Yeah, hopefully it doesn't catch on because like I said, like what do you I mean their bank accounts are certainly not as padded as as the the headliners, you know, what do you unless Chase did a good job like you said of the guitar, you know, unless it's something very personal. So, like I don't know. We've talked to Megan Moroni before and she loves sunflower seeds. So, I don't know if I was like her tour opener, something that's like viable would be like cartoning in 10 five gallon B buckets of David sunflower seeds, >> right? >> So, like something like that is cool, but if he's Yeah. Once you start getting into like trying to impress them like with things that are other than what you thought of, you know, no way. Like Yeah. >> That that's what you call hustling backwards. You're working hard for something you don't really want at the end of the day. You just don't realize it. [laughter] >> Yeah. And then and then at the end of the day, you end up, oh, I got Luke Bryan a car, but you know, to Luke Bryant, it's like a Pontiac Sunfire. And he's like, what is this crap? and he gives it to his niece, you know, you don't want to. But the Chase Matthew that would have taken up maybe half his bank account like you don't want to. So yeah, I stick with the Chase. If we're going to do this, do it like you're doing it. And let's I don't think we need to start buying stuff for these uh these headliners. >> It's a Chase Matthew McQuitty is his legal last name. You guys talked about how he has two names. Did you realize McQuitty is his legal last name? >> I did not. Um, and the fact that he didn't bring that up makes me, I guess, think that he doesn't want people to know about McQuitti. Well, now he said a couple of things kind of quickly and I wondered if you caught him because he did mention that Matthew was his middle name, but he also mentioned real fast that he dropped out of high school. And this got me really deep down a rabbit hole of like Chase Matthew biography. Some of which I knew, some of it was new to me, some of it I relearned. But my man has he he's had a hard life up until this point. Like like he had some addiction issues. His best friend was murdered about eight, nine years ago. Like he was homeless for a time. Uh he's dropped out of high school. I don't know if he went back, got his GED, whatever. Like he looks kind of wellkept, put together, clean, polished, but he lives some life to get here. >> That's crazy. Yeah. Um does he have a lot of tattoos? >> He does. And in fact, one of his tattoos is of the name of his best friend who was murdered. I think it was on his um his forearm or something like that when they were 18. >> I live kind of by just my own personal rules that if if someone's got some tattoos, you know, in some visible places that they have a past maybe, you know, a little more gangster than you might have thought. You know, for example, my neighbor like behind me, you know, I would have, you know, he's like a total like programming nerd, but he's got like full sleeve tattoos. And I'm like, all right, like what's going on here? I want to know about the past. Like, you don't just get all those tattoos unless you've been through some stuff. And then it all comes to culmination if you get the face tattoos, which that is my ultimate. And I've told Jelly Roll this before. If you have face tattoos, you are the real deal. If you see somebody with face tattoos that it doesn't get much more real than that. Mess with them or mess with them in the sense of they're going to be the kindest people alive like Jelly Roll and Bradley Gilbert. You know, unless you mess with them. >> Yeah. Names, date tattoos. You always know there's a story behind them. I mean, how do you approach someone like Kane Brown who has like tattoos over tattoos, right? Like he used to have like a big bat. Like he's got he's just loaded up with ink. [laughter] He's got some stories >> at that point. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's just there's that's that's what we call like a backstory. Like you know, you got a backstory to what's that tattoo about on the layer underneath there, you know? Oh, that's about time I don't want to remember. You know, >> the thing about tattoos, too, is like like I don't know. You can't just pop off and ask someone about their tattoos in like a public setting. It's almost like poor or bad manners. >> I don't know if they're visible. I feel like they're like I feel like if they're visible, it's I'm allowed to like comment about >> Yeah, I guess so. But if you know it's going to be a heartfelt emotional story and be like, "Hi, how are you? Who died on August 15th?" >> Well, then don't put it on your hand. Don't make it, "Hi, how are you?" Don't talk about the elephant in the room. Yeah. I don't know. I think they a tattoo like like uh like I got my kids I don't even know how to face the camera. I got my my kids uh feet each kid's foot. But like I want people to ask me about those. If I didn't I ought to put them >> up here or something. So like if I if I wanted to get a tattoo about my dog that died and I didn't want people to know about it, I'll put it back here or something. But if I'm putting it on my hand, like I feel like that's fair game. >> I had no idea you had your kids feet tattooed on your forearms like that. >> What? You I've known you for seven years. >> There was never a day where I came into the office and I saw you with like a bandage on your forearm or like red forearms cuz you had just gotten tattooed. I had no clue. >> That That's weird. >> Do you have other tattoos? >> Yes. Uh yeah, I got one on my leg and then one on my on on this part of my arm. But the fact that I've It's not just that we've worked together for seven years. Like you run the camera. There's a camera that focuses on me. Have you not noticed I I don't always wear long sleeves? Like how have you It's not like we're just cube mates. It's like part of your job is looking through this little hole at me sometimes. [laughter] >> It's so crazy to me. >> That's a fair point.
