It's always a good time at a Jake Owen concert, and fans who head to upstate New York in June for the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival are going to find that out first-hand.

Owen originally intended to pursue a career as a pro golfer, but reconstructive surgery after a wakeboarding accident left him unable to play competitively. It's just as well for country music fans; the Florida native learned to play guitar and write songs instead, and signed a deal with RCA in Nashville in 2005, releasing his debut album, Startin’ With Me, in 2006.

The title song and “Yee Haw" were hits, but it was really the title song of Owen's third album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night,  that broke him through to the mainstream. That gave him his first No. 1, followed by three more No. 1s in “Alone With You,” “The One That Got Away” and “Anywhere With You.” He scored another No. 1 with “Beachin’” from 2013's Days of Gold album, and its third single, “What We Ain’t Got,” was a turn in a more serious direction for the singer-songwriter.

Owen is set to release his fifth studio album, American Love, on July 29, and its first single, "American Country Love Song," is already a Top 20 hit. The album features 11 new studio tracks, including a collaboration with Chris Stapleton on a song titled “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You."

“And it sounds so good,” Owen tells Taste of Country Nights host Sam Alex. “He sounds unbelievable on it, so I’m so excited.”

Owen's longtime fans can look for old hits and brand new music in his set when he headlines at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival in Hunter Mountain, N.Y., closing out the festival on Sunday night (June 12).
