Sam Hunt Brings His Mom to ACM Awards, Makes Us All Say ‘Aww!’ [Watch]

Sam Hunt had the best date to Sunday night's (April 19) Academy of Country Music Awards — his mom! Mama Hunt couldn't help but brag on her son while on the red carpet, and it was adorable.

"It means a whole lot," the "Take Your Time" hitmaker tells ET of being invited to the 2015 ACM Awards. "I am really new to this. This is my very first awards show and this is the best of the best in country music. I've grown up watching this show and grown up listening to all the artists who participate in this award show and it's phenomenal to be a part of it now."

As it was the country singer's first-ever ACM Awards, he decided mom Joan should get to celebrate the occasion with him — and it's hard to tell who was more excited! While Hunt seemed to be in awe surrounded by artists he grew up watching, his mom was more thrilled for her son.

"I could not be more proud," Joan gushed, adding, "this is so surreal for me to see him like this and at an awards show. I'm really excited for him."

The singer admits that the emotions were running high for both him and Mom. He says she's kept it together, but wasn't sure that would last all night.

Hunt was even nominated for his first ACM Award, as he was one of the three finalists in the fan-voted New Artist of the Year category. He went up against Thomas Rhett and Cole Swindell, with Swindell ultimately taking home the prize.
