Alabama have sold more show tickets and had more No.1 singles (43) than any other band in the history of country music. In their 30-year career they've had 21 gold, platinum or multi-platinum records and sold more than 73 million copies of those records. That said, it's not surprising that the three man supergroup will be taking home the Greatest Hits award at the 2011 American Country Awards.

In addition to receiving the award, Alabama will perform at the awards show on Dec. 5. They'll be joined onstage by country talents like Blake Shelton, Pistol Annies, Scotty McCreery, Thompson Square, Eli Young Band, the Band Perry and hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth.

This will likely not be your last chance to see the band. They officially retired in 2004 but seem to be toeing the performance waters once again. Alabama have four tour dates listed on their official website -- including stops in Texas, California and Minnesota -- between February and August of next year. The band's founding member, Jeff Cook, also revealed that the guys are thinking about doing upwards of 20 shows in 2012.

Catch Alabama's performance and watch them receive this high honor on the 2011 American Country Awards, airing Dec. 5 at 8PM ET on FOX from a live broadcast from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
