Blake Shelton: ‘It’s Been a Weird Year’

Blake Shelton played the iHeartRadio Music Festival over the weekend, and before his 25-minute set he talked to reporters about his 2015. “It’s been a weird year,” he admits.

“But at least I got my songs coming out,” he added, referring to Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits, in stores Oct. 23. Shelton’s yet to open up about his marriage and divorce from Miranda Lambert. On Saturday, he appeared with his other love wrapped in his fingers.

Several media outlets report that Shelton was sipping from a red Solo cup, and he made a few jokes about how he likes to drink. Learning Jennifer Lopez was also playing the festival made him a little bit nervous, “and when I get nervous I tend to drink a little bit.”

“I’m just being honest with you,” he said.

It’s a big month for Shelton. The new season of The Voice on NBC premieres Monday night, and on Wednesday, he’ll play a free show in Nashville. While he doesn’t have any additional tour dates listed on his official website, he’ll likely perform at the 2015 CMA Awards in November. He’s nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year.

Shelton was recently revealed as a key piece of the lineup for 2016 Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colo. The singer joins Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band and Lee Brice as headliners for the June 16-19 country and camping festival.
