It certainly wouldn't be a country music awards show without a performance from the popular Blake Shelton. He brought 'Mine Would Be You' from his album 'Based on a True Story ...' to the 2013 CMA Awards stage Wednesday.

The set to his performance was incredibly beautiful, giving a romantic and gasp-inducing backdrop -- even though, if you listen to the lyrics, it's not exactly a song about, well, commitment. But that's beside the point.

Behind Shelton, who was clad in a dark shirt and jeans, hundreds of tiny lights, reminiscent of candles, glowed with a soft and golden light. Next to him, Gwen Sebastian harmonized, but the focus was all on the country crooner, who won last year's Entertainer of the Year award.

Normally a funny guy, Shelton focused on putting the emotional song to life, his eyes gleaming with passion as he belted out the lyrics, "What’s your guilty pleasure, your old go-to / Well if you ask me, mine would be you.” And the effect? Pretty amazing.
