Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer have ended their engagement after seven months. The country newcomers had been dating for over a year before news of their split surfaced on Thursday (Aug. 15).

People reports that the couple blame their careers. An unidentified source tells the magazine that Kramer and Gilbert are both really busy, and spending time apart made it too difficult to plan a wedding.

"There was no foul play involved, it's nothing like that," the source says. "They were happy together, but know what's best." Representatives for Gilbert's label have confirmed the split.

Twenty nine-year-old Kramer and 28-year-old Gilbert confirmed they were dating last September. They were engaged in January, the same month that Kramer confirmed they were living together.

Since then, they've both been more than willing to talk about their relationship, with the 'I Hope It Rains' singer even joking about her fiance's heavy involvement in the wedding planning process. No date for the wedding was ever announced. It would have been Gilbert's first marriage. Kramer's was briefly married to actor Johnathon Schaech in 2010 and was wed in 2004 as well, according to People.

Currently, Gilbert is playing fairs and festivals across the country, while Kramer is on Blake Shelton's Ten Times Crazier Tour. Neither singer has commented on the split directly, but Kramer made reference to a very bad day through her Twitter account on Wednesday.
