Canaan Smith has been bubbling under the radar for a while now, consistently being named an artist to watch in the country music, and now he’s going out on his own.

During an appearance on The Today Show on Sept. 14, Smith took the opportunity to announce his first headlining tour, kicking off later this fall. The newcomer performed his new single “Hole in a Bottle” and shared that his Stompin’ Grounds tour will include 11 dates, beginning Nov. 6 in Charlotte, N.C.

Smith earned his first hit with “Love You Like That” in July 2015, which reached the top slot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The song appears on his debut full-length record, Bronco, which dropped June 23.

The singer-songwriter will be joined on his tour by Russell Dickerson and will wrap up the run in December. Smith was recently named brand ambassador for Dickies, which is sponsoring the tour.

He has been on the road this summer with Dierks Bentley as part of his 2015 Sounds of Summer tour, along with Maddie & Tae and Kip Moore, who have all apparently gotten in on some pranking action along the way. Bentley got the openers to jump in a freezing cold lake in January after the lineup announcement, but that was just the beginning of the outrageousness. Smith says he’s stayed out of it for the most part, but he has some ideas in his back pocket, should he need them.

“There might be some Ex-Lax in some morning coffee or something …” he joked.
