Canaan Smith had better watch out, because his pup Rowdy might be taking over the role of superstar in their family. The little guy took home a big purple ribbon at the county fair Sept. 22, according to Smith’s Instagram feed, for Best in Show.

The photo shows Smith and his wife posing proudly with Rowdy, Smith beaming and holding up one finger, and Christy showing off the trophy and ribbon. Smith knows the accolades could go to the dog’s head, noting in the caption that he’d better not expect his own tour bus now.

When he’s not spending time at the county fair, Smith is getting ready for his upcoming headlining Sundown Ready Tour, kicking off Oct. 7.

“Instead of taking time off, we couldn’t resist getting back out there with the fans,” he says. "The inspiration for this tour came from life on the road and meeting fans who are fun-loving, ‘sundown ready,’ just like me and my band."

The artist released a new record last year called Bronco, but he’s already getting some new music ready.

“This new stuff we’re really excited about,” Smith shared at Country Jam this summer. “I can’t say what’s coming next, because it’s not even fully decided yet. Y’all stay tuned because we have something coming for you.”
