Carrie Underwood — along with many other longtime female country fans — apparently wanted to marry Garth Brooks when she was younger, and it looks like she got pretty close with husband Mike Fisher.

The singer posted a video on Instagram on Jan. 3 showing her (real) husband, Fisher, belting out Brooks’ hit “The River,” noting that perhaps a duet would be in order.

The NHL player actually does pretty well with his vocals, proving he’s more than just a Nashville Predator — he’s got pipes. Underwood used the hashtag #IAlwaysWantedToMarryGarth, and it seems she’s got the next best thing.

The superstar country singer is back home with her hubby and son Isaiah after she performed an epic medley of hits at Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve on Dec. 31, just before the ball dropped in Times Square. The artist sang her most recent releases, “Smoke Break” and “Heartbeat,” before breaking into what she called a “fan favorite,” “Before He Cheats.” Fans packed into the iconic New York district went wild for Underwood’s performance and were happy to ring in the new year with her. Fellow country star Luke Bryan also serenaded the audience during the show and stood next to wife Caroline and Underwood with host Ryan Seacrest as 2016 kicked off.

Underwood’s Storyteller Tour is slated to launch this year, beginning in Jacksonville, Fla., on Jan. 30 and wrapping up in Ontario, Canada on May 30. The singer recently added a couple of additional international dates during the C2C Festival to her tour in March, now hitting Stolkholm, Sweeden and Oslo, Norway. She'll be bringing along rising stars Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers for her North American Storyteller dates.
