Carrie Underwood has had a busy year, between having a house built in Canada and then moving and dealing with her husband being traded to the Nashville Predators. She's also enjoyed a No.1  single with Brad Paisley in the form of 'Remind Me,' too. Even with all that personal (and professional) activity, the former 'American Idol' winner is working her butt off on a new album. She called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning and revealed that she is just about halfway done with the songs for a new disc, which will follow up 2009's 'Play On.'

Underwood revealed, "I have been writing quite a bit and have been in the studio a bit. I probably have half an album done right now and I am trying to fill in the gaps and figure out what fits into the puzzle. It's a fun time right now."

However, Underwood won't be previewing new stuff at the IHeartRadio shows set for Las Vegas on September 23 and 24. It's just too soon for her to do so. "It’s a little too early," she said, adding that she wants to make sure the songs are exactly how she wants them to be before she can let them go out into the world.

We can't blame her for protecting the new tunes until she perfects them and they are ready for fans to hear. At least we know that she is halfway done and that a new album is closer to being released.
