Carolyn Corlew, longtime background vocalist for the Charlie Daniels Band, just moved from the background into the spotlight. She was recently crowned Ms. Tennessee Senior America, and has the glittering crown to prove it.

The singer won the title of Ms. Senior Wilson County at the Wilson County Fair last August, and, while representing Wilson County at the Tennessee State convention, Corlew encouraged ladies that have reached the “Age of Elegance” to consider participating in the pageant.

According to their website, the Ms. Senior America Pageant is the world’s first and foremost pageant to emphasize and give honor to women who have reached the “Age of Elegance.” They search for a gracious lady who best exemplifies the dignity, maturity and inner beauty of all senior Americans.

Corlew obviously fit the bill, and her experience in singing onstage night after night with Charlie Daniels probably was a bonus in helping her overcome any nerves. The national pageant is scheduled for October 20-25, 2013 on the boardwalk at Atlantic City, NJ.

Best of luck to Corlew, as she's certainly the picture of elegance and poise.
