'The Sound of Music Live!' has a big name cast including Carrie Underwood, and big stars cost big bucks. Not surprisingly, the live three-hour production will set NBC back a pretty penny.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes sources that say the network is spending "as much as" a whopping $9 million to put on the production Thursday night (Dec. 5). In addition to country's own Underwood portraying Maria von Trapp, 'The Sound of Music Live!' will also feature 'True Blood' star Stephen Moyerat.

According to THR, NBC has yet to comment on the cost of the event.

The production will air one more time before Christmas, and if it does well, it may become a holiday staple on the network. If Underwood fans want to give the gift of a blonde beauty for Christmas, there will also be a DVD of the event released, plus a soundtrack featuring the songstress.
