Eighteen years after winning two Grammys with Hootie & the Blowfish, Darius Rucker has another award to put on his shelf, nabbing the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance with 'Wagon Wheel.'

The singer was up against a slew of some of country's biggest stars and their hits, including Lee Brice's 'I Drive Your Truck,' Hunter Hayes' 'I Want Crazy,' Miranda Lambert's 'Mama's Broken Heart' and Blake Shelton's 'Mine Would Be You.'

Rucker's version of the Old Crow Medicine Show hit (which Bob Dylan helped write) struck gold (literally) with country fans, as he gave the modern classic his own special twist.

Earlier this fall, Rucker said that "country music was screwed" if 'Wagon Wheel' wasn't nominated for a Grammy. It turns out things are looking good for the genre, as it not only was nominated, but also won the 2014 Grammy.
