Dierks Bentley Buys Drones for Riser Tour Openers

Trucks and guitars are typically exchanged after a major country tour wraps up (Miranda Lambert bought Carrie Underwood a motorcycle after she recorded ‘Somethin’ Bad). But Dierks Bentley takes the prize for most creative, unusual and potentially dangerous thank you gift.

The ‘Drunk on a Plane’ singer bought Chase Rice, Jon Pardi and Chris Young drones, and he tells Taste of Country that he’s not entirely sure everyone will be able to handle them.

“Me and the band are taking bets to see whose lasts the least,” he revealed before his 9th annual Miles and Music for Kids charity concert. “Chase Rice has a great video guy out there, so he’ll be good. Chris Young, trust him. He’s pretty good. Jon Pardi …”

Bentley smiles and closes his eyes the way he does when trying to find the right words for his story.

“The last time I saw Jon Pardi, we were hitting golfballs into a river and he was lighting his on fire with diesel fuel before he hit them,” the star shares. “And then last night, he was running around stage in a pilot outfit … He might hurt someone.”

The idea does have a professional purpose. Bentley loves flying (as seen in the video for his new song ‘Say You Do’) and had a drone on the road for a few days himself, before he crashed it. He figured that with a camera attached, the aircraft would be a great tool for social media.

Young agrees that Pardi’s drone will be first to die. “He’s nuts by the end of the night, every night, on the tour,” the ‘Aw Naw’ singer dishes to ToC. “We assume he’s just gonna get it out at one in the morning and crash it into the side of somebody’s bus.”

Rice shared a picture of his drone:
