While typically thought of as a rock and roller and not a country singer, Elvis Presley did find success on the country charts with 'Heartbreak Hotel,' song No. 19 on the Top 100 Country Songs list. It was his first single to sell a million copies and a chart-topping hit on the country, pop and R&B charts. Few songs can claim that.

For about five years, beginning in 1955, country music whole-heartedly embraced Presley. After 1960, he'd land only a handful of his hits on country radio, but the indelible mark left on future generations propels this song up the list of the Top 100 Country Songs. It's as sad and lonesome as any country song can be.
