George Strait's new song "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" would fit on most of the country legend's albums. The country swinger finds the King singing what he knows best.

It's a throwback lyric in the sense that many bars and honky-tonks in 2019 are smoke-free and have digital streaming devices mounted to walls instead of jukeboxes. One could argue how much Hank Sr. is being played these days, as well, but the imagery comes together effectively. It's the beat blue-collar ideology that's most important here. "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" is for the working man.

Two songs into his new album, it's not looking like Strait will stray from these values. Few have eased forward with changes in the country economy better than he has — every song feels both just in time and nostalgic. Can he keep it up across another full album, however? "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" gives reason for hope.

Did You Know?: George Strait's Honky Tonk Time Machine album will be available on March 29.

George Strait's "Every Little Honky Tonk Bar" Lyrics:

Whiskey is the gasoline that lights the fire that burns the bridge / Ice creates the water that's no longer runnin' under it / Stool holds the fool that pours the whiskey on his broken heart.

Cigarettes create the smoke that hides the lonesome in his eyes / The jukebox plays Hank, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" / Dance floor holds the folks trying to forget who they are / That's what happens in every little honky tonk bar.

Chorus:
Friday night, it's a given / We'll be l-i-v-n, livin' / We'll dance on the bar 'til we're sleeping it off in the car / Monday morning, it's a given / We'll be d-r-a-g-n, draggin' / And that's what happens in every little honky tonk bar.

Neon lights flashin' bright 'til you're almost hypnotized / Red dress, short skirt, gets it on 'bout every night / Comin' and goin', always rollin' with the flow / Bartender pourin' drinks, Código dual shots / You think you're tall and bulletproof until somebody says you're not / Step outside thinkin' you're gonna show 'em you are / That's what happens in every little honky tonk bar.
