Though he’s still traveling the country with Lady Antebellum’s Wheels Up tour, Hunter Hayes has announced he will be going on a limited-run 21-city tour this fall, which will include college campus events across the U.S., in light of the success of his latest single, “21.”

The shows on the 21 tour will all be different, each one containing something specific to that show only. “We’ve had such a great time touring this summer, and I can’t wait to get back out there this fall and see our fans in a close-up setting,” Hayes says in a news release. “We’re going to make it all about the music, with every night holding something unique only to that show.”

The shows will be smaller than the amphitheaters and areas he’s been playing with Lady A, which Hayes says he is looking forward to.

"I've found myself in this really unique space while creating new music where there's something really exciting about stripping it all back down and looking these fans in the eyes while playing,” Hayes adds. “Whether it's playing some of our hits differently or seeing where the new music takes us while on stage, I just really want to take some time to connect on that level before releasing a full album next year."

Hayes is known for his fan-centric approach to his career, producing web series, running scavenger hunts and taking the road less traveled when it comes to releasing music. He digitally released "21" individually via streaming and country radio only, and for Hayes, the experiment has paid off. The song was the most-added track to country radio the week of its release, and it has garnered nearly 21 million streams on Spotify in the nine weeks following. It’s currently the third-most-played country song on Spotify.

“Change is not a bad thing — it’s a beautiful thing,” Hayes explained in a Billboard article, which dubbed the move "country’s biggest digital experiment to date.”

Hayes has also signed on for his acting debut on a scripted television show on Nickelodeon. He will continue on the Wheels Up tour through the rest of the summer.
