Jake Owen married his fiancee, Lacey Buchanan, on Monday morning (May 7) in a sunrise ceremony in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. He announced the nuptials via Twitter, writing "A best friend for life. I now have a wifey … my face hurts from smiling. What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life."

The wedding comes exactly one month after Owen proposed during a hometown show. The 30-year-old Owen and 22-year-old Buchanan began met when she appeared in his video for '8 Second Ride' in 2009. She is also the lead actress in the 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night' video.

Despite a short engagement, Owen tells People he had a plan. "(The early wedding) was my idea, because it's symbolic of the dawn of a new day and starting our new life together," he says.

Two weeks ago, Owen hinted that he and Buchanan would marry sooner rather than later. "No shoes, and I’ll probably just be laid back in casual clothes, and she’ll be in her pretty dress, and we’ll have just immediate family and call it a day,” he told ABC News Radio.

“My life has always been about keeping things simple, and I don’t see either one of us spending a long time planning a wedding,” he told Country Weekly. “We are both from Florida, so we are thinking it will be a cool, laid-back sunrise service on the beach. We might have a guy playing a little nylon-string guitar or something. I bet our wedding doesn’t last for more than 10 or 15 minutes. We love the idea of starting the day fresh ... a dawn-of-a-new-day sort of deal.”

The wedding news comes just a day after Owen was temporarily handcuffed by police, after he was spotted wearing a mask outside of a Steak 'n Shake restaurant. No charges were filed, and the singer has since apologized for any embarrassment he may have caused.
