Jamie Lynn Spears may be a successful actress with an increasingly popular country music career, but she still knows that family is her first priority. Especially when it comes to the holidays.

Earlier this month, Spears sat down with Taste of Country to talk about her growing popularity in country music, including a coveted spot opening for country legends Alabama recently. During the exclusive interview, the newly-married mother of one also opened up about her personal life, and the importance of the holidays in staying connected with her family.

"I'm a mom, so holidays are kind of a time where I get to say, 'Look, it's time for me to re-boot and just be a mom, and focus on that,'" says Spears, whose daughter, Maddie, is six years old. "It's an important time right now, especially with my daughter being so young. The holidays are a really important time."

As for holiday traditions, the 'How Could I Want More' singer says with a family spread out all over the country, and with insanely successful music careers of their own (we're talking about her sister, Britney Spears, of course), there is one thing powerful enough to pull everyone to the table.

"My family is all over the place, so as long as we can get us all in one city, that's kind of a big deal for us," she says with a laugh. "I think it all revolves around food. It's all about that. That's our tradition. Bring the food, and you'll see the Spears clan runnin'!"

Spears had better enjoy quiet days with family while she can. After a debut EP that delighted both listeners and critics with its vulnerability and musical depth, not to mention those successful opening dates with Alabama, she is about to get a whole lot busier.
