Singer Jennifer Nettles recently revealed that she's working on a solo album, but does that mean it's the end of the road for country super duo Sugarland?

"Not at all -- nobody panic!" Nettles quipped at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 19). She tells Billboard that she and Kristian Bush are simply taking some time away from the superstar act. "We're just taking time to do things individually, personally and professionally," she says. "And we're super supportive of each other in what we do on both those fronts, personally and professionally."

Nettles recently gave birth to her first son, and Sunday marked her first awards show appearance since that momentous change. She's been working with famed rock producer Rick Rubin on an album that marks a departure for her, but she insists it's still country and will please her Sugarland fans, while allowing her to explore new musical terrain.

"With Sugarland it's been fun to write with Kristian, we go out and play the big shows, play the arenas," she observes. "I wanted to do something that was just different, you know? That was more intimate and more personal, more organic to me. And definitely speaks to my roots and to where I'm at right now in my life."

Nettles' solo album is tentatively slated for release in the fall.
