No. 66: John Anderson, ‘Swingin’’ – Top 100 Country Songs

Swingin
Warner Brothers

This was a career song for John Anderson. In addition to being a huge country hit, ‘Swingin” crossed over to find mainstream success while earning the singer five CMA nominations, including Male Vocalist of the Year and the win for Single of the Year in 1983.

Song No. 66 on the Top 100 Country Songs list was Anderson’s second No. 1 hit, but even including those from his early ’90s career resurgence, it was was by far his most important. After almost 30 years, fans can still find ‘Swingin” on country radio. Heck, Scotty McCreery even sang it during ‘American Idol’ in 2011.
