Kenny Chesney Teases New Music With Mysterious Video [Watch]
Kenny Chesney is teasing a big announcement.
“We didn’t turn it on, but we can’t turn it off,” a static-filled video on the singer’s Facebook page reads.
Later, a date appears: “3-24, 3:45PM CST,” alongside the Facebook icon.
Could it be the release of new music? Or maybe the announcement of a new album?
Chesney recently revealed that he has been in the studio, which means new music is coming soon.
“You have to take time to live and breathe, to fill up your tanks to be creative,” the superstar admits in a press release. “Otherwise, you’re just on a treadmill churning out what you’ve already done … Who needs that? For me, especially after the success of The Big Revival, I want to move the music, the songs, the discussion forward!”
Following his summer tour, Chesney spent the past several months writing and looking for songs for his next project in Austin, the islands and on the road. He has also teamed up with frequent co-producer Buddy Cannon (Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard).
“When we came off the road and I listened back to The Big Revival, all I could think was, ‘Man, we covered a lot of ground, went pretty cool, as well as new places musically,’” Chesney explains. “I knew we couldn’t repeat, but I also wanted to find more new ways and new things to record.”
He added that he hopes to release new music this spring — which could be as close as next week, on the aforementioned March 24.
“There’s a moment you feel a record grab hold, and take shape,” he says. “You can have great songs and not have an album. You can have a killer record that won’t move people on the radio. The idea is to balance both, then hopefully create something that does both, that also says something as a whole. I think we’re on our way.”
It sees likely that Chesney will have new music to share when he takes the stage at the 2016 Taste of Country Music Festival in Hunter Mountain, N.Y. in June.
