LeAnn Rimes has a 'spitfire' personality, and she's never been afraid to stand up for herself and those she loves. However, the 30-year-old singer has learned that when it comes to husband Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife, she needs to bite her tongue.

There's been no escaping the ongoing feud between 40-year-old 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Brandi Glanville and Rimes -- the turmoil has been incredibly public since the cheating scandal. But as she matures, Rimes has learned it's best to stay out of the drama, which often erupts on Twitter.

"I definitely have to bite my tongue a lot of the time," she admits to US Weekly. "There's a fine line because I don't want to be run over and I do stand up for myself. But I also don't want to feed into the drama. I did say, 'I do music, not drama.' I don't need drama to have a career."

She adds, "And so I plan on, as much as possible, to not feed into it. Like I said, there will be moments I don't hold back from standing up for myself."

The two-time Grammy winner is quick to defend her now-husband, and is moving confidently into the future -- and she hopes it will be very peaceful.

"The thing is, Eddie and I are very proud of the home and family that we have... We can't control the people around us, but we can control we handle drama, and we've made a very peaceful life for ourselves and I'm very happy with that," Rimes says. "There's a lot of drama on the outside and we've finally learned how to not let it in."

"I hope that things like someone tweeting about not being able to get ahold of their kids will subside at some point and not be used as drama," she concludes.

The songstress is instead focusing on her new album, 'Spitfire,' which was much inspired by the Rimes-Cibrian affair. Recently, Rimes revealed that she's even contemplating children of her own soon.
