Little Big Town’s latest single, “Pain Killer,” may make you want to find a boat, or a beach or a bottle of rum, or all three. The late-summer cut from the album of the same name is a mellow groove that falls more in line with “Day Drinking” than “Girl Crush.”

At its core “Pain Killer” is a love song, but it’s light on over-the-top gestures or romance.

“You're my pain killer / A little dose of you goes a long long way / You're my pain killer / Oh will you take it away, you take it away,” the group sings during the chorus. A heavy shot of “Ooh ooh / La la la la la la la” rounds out the hooky, mid-tempo jam.

LBT’s Karen Fairchild wrote this song with Jimi Westbrook, Blair Daly and Hillary Lindsey. “Don't need no fixin' / I don't need no therapy / Your love drunk kissin' / Is my kinda remedy,” Fairchild sings during the second verse. She once again takes the lead.

“You're always lookin' to fall / You're like the hair of the dog / When I'm feelin' cursed / Don't need no doctor honey / I don't need no nurse …”

“Pain Killer” is a credit to strong songwriting and a strong bond between the four bandmates. If they didn’t like each other, the performance would reflect it. Instead fans get a song they can sing along with the next time they're gathered with those who kill their pain.

Why Fans Will Love It: "Pain Killer" feels like a vacation on the radio. The easy love song is difficult to frown through.

Key Lyrics: "You're my pain killer / A little dose of you goes a long long way / You're my pain killer / Oh will you take it away."

Did You Know?: LBT filmed the video for “Pain Killer” at the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. That’s rumored to be where the Painkiller drink was invented.
