See the Funniest Little Jimmy Dickens Cameo Appearances
Over the last decade, country fans have come to know Little Jimmy Dickens as one of the best comedic sidekicks in the business. A CMA Awards ceremony without a cameo from the 94-year-old legend feels incomplete, but that’s not the only stage his timing shines on. Here are five of the funniest Little Jimmy Dickens cameos in recent history.
'Celebrity' wasn't the first Brad Paisley video Little Jimmy Dickens appeared in. The Grand Ole Opry member also showed up in the clip for 'I'm Gonna Miss Her' a few years earlier, but he's best know for stealing Trista Rehn's heart in this hilarious mocking of 'The Bachelorette.' Dickens delivers the knockout line of the video, quipping, "Chicks dig rhinestones" before he and the beautiful blonde walk away.
In 2003, Trace Adkins took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry and went through his set as he'd done before. Suddenly, Little Jimmy Dickens walked on stage and climbed a small ladder to look the singer in the eye while inviting him to become a member of the esteemed Opry. It was a great moment broadcast on GAC-TV. Look for Adkins' very pregnant wife Rhonda alongside the stage.
Would any other Hall of Famer subject himself to so much comical torture? At the 2011 CMA Awards, Dickens took the stage as Little Justin Bieber to comment on the pop teen's controversy at the time. Dickens forgets his line, but the costume alone is good enough to rank this clip No. 3 on our best-of cameo list.
At the 2012 CMA Awards, hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood dressed Little Jimmy Dickens as a doctor -- an OBGYN, to be specific. Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles was very, very pregnant at the time, but was still in attendance. The hosts joked that a livebirth would be good for ratings, and that they had a 'doctor' on-hand to give it a try. Fortunately for everyone involved, Nettles waited another month to have her baby.
The 2009 CMA Awards came just after the infamous MTV Music Awards, during which Taylor Swift was rudely interrupted by Kanye West when collecting an award. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood parodied the drama at the country awards show, with Little Jimmy Dickens showing up in full rhinestones to take the microphone from Paisley in an effort to give Swift's video some credit. "Of all time!" he says, voice squeaking. This cameo is his "best of all time."
