Martina McBride vs. Miranda Lambert: Country’s Top Vocalist of 2016?
One is a four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Award winner, the other is a six-timer. This matchup between two of country music’s premiere singers puts two powerhouse hitmakers and their fans against each other to prove one is more deserving of the Country’s Top Vocalist of 2016 title.
Martina McBride has returned to the spotlight with her first single in years. “Reckless” is a biographical love song that shows how husband John has been a rock in her life and career. It’s also another reminder that she can still sing with anyone in country music. The big vocal performance is a first listen to songs from a new album, scheduled for later this year.
Miranda Lambert is more of a stylist than McBride. She’ll kill you with sass and attitude before she will a glass-shattering high note, but with six CMA wins (and several ACMs) she’s a very deserving candidate in this competition. The winner will move on to face either Carrie Underwood or Ashley Monroe when Round 2 begins next Monday.
Taste of Country’s Top Vocalist of 2016 competition gives fans a chance to decide who country’s premiere vocalist is. Sixteen artists were chosen from amongst the most talented, active singers of the year. The finals will feature a fan-voted battle between the top male and top female. This round will close on March 13 at 11:59PM ET.
