Country spitfire Miranda Lambert rocked the stage at the 2012 CMA Awards with a high-energy performance of 'Fastest Girl in Town,' her recent hit single.

Lambert displayed her usual "whirling dervish" stage presence, with microphone in hand and without her usual guitar, throwing her hair around wildly to the song's heavy backbeat. The singer appeared to struggle with some of the lower notes in the verses, as if she couldn't quite hear herself in the mix -- a common problem at awards shows, where performers are at the mercy of a house sound engineer.

But she pulled it out toward the end of the song, after a blazing guitar solo and some sexy stage moves. Maybe she was just nervous -- she has a lot riding on tonight, since she's nominated in a total of four categories, including a nod for Song of the Year for 'Over You,' which she co-wrote with her husband, fellow country star Blake Shelton.

In any case, she was on fire!
