Miranda Lambert had Pistol Annies fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation of new music after she posted a photo on Instagram hinting at a new Pistol Annies song. During an interview with The Highway's Storme Warren, Lambert admits that while she, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe are working on new music, it may be a little while until an album is released.

"Well, we're not close yet," Lambert says. "The other night, I had a song that just kind of came out of the air to me and within three minutes, I had a full song."

She said she texted her bandmates the first verse and chorus, and each singer sent her a verse back, and they quickly finished the song. If this new music sees the light of day, it will mark the first album since 2013's sophomore project Annies Up.

"Everybody is kind of in different directions, which is why the Annies always takes a while," Lambert adds. "We're very much in the spirit of the Annies right now."

Lambert says the way people embraced her latest double album, The Weight of These Wings, has given her renewed energy and more strength to move on and to continue writing new music.

"I am in absolute ass-kicking mode right now," Lambert says. "I'm excited. I don't know when or what. I just feel this energy and this excitement about what's coming next—the Annies and my own solo stuff."
