Rick Monroe's debut single, "This Side of You," tells the tale of a man discovering something brand new about his significant other. Despite knowing each other for years, he finds himself surprised and intrigued at this revelation and hopes to continue learning some more secrets his lady keeps hidden.

Taste of Country has the exclusive premiere of "This Side of You." The track was co-written with Jason Duke and Ryan Griffin. It features Monroe's stunning vocals alongside driving guitar and light percussion throughout the sultry ballad.

“This Side of You” is the lead single from Monroe's upcoming Gypsy Soul EP. He says the song came together shortly after talking with his co-writers during their writing session.

"Ryan Griffin was telling us about his recent trip to Disney with his wife, who he says is pretty reserved, but one night the wine won over and she let go a bit," Monroe explains. "To paraphrase him, [he said] 'I’d never seen that side of her before,' and that’s when I said, 'Well, I think we have a hook idea.' With guys like Jason Duke and Ryan, it doesn’t take long to get on to a solid melody. We knocked it out! It was definitely one of those songs that wanted to be written."

"This Side of You" includes backing vocals from Kristen Rogers, who also sings with A Thousand Horses. Listen to "This Side of You" below. The song is set for release on March 17. It is currently available for pre-order via Amazon.

Rick Monroe, "This Side of You" Lyrics:

Letting loose / Is that your hair down / You're in the mood to come unwound / There's something in the air, something different / Bout that smile you're wearing girl what is it / When I think I know what's going on behind them brown eyes / You go and do that little something girl that takes me by surprise

Chorus:

Baby I ain't never seen this side of you before / I think I like and I'd like to see a whole lot more / Dangling your toes over the edge of out of control / Baby I ain't never seen this side of you before

If I hadn't seen it with my own eye I wouldn't believe it girl / I can't believe that you are mine / A little reckless at the right time / Your inhibitions you set 'em all aside / I could get used to you taking my breath away / As long as you got more of them secrets coming my way

Repeat Chorus

When I think I know what's going on behind them brown eyes / You go and do that little something girl that takes me by surprise
