Scotty McCreery has a lot of new titles to his name. He's an 'American Idol' champion, a platinum-selling country artist and a CMT Music Award-winner, as of last night. But he hasn't been able to call himself a high school graduate until today.

Just hours after the 'Water Tower Town' singer snagged a CMT Music Award for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year, he walked across the stage at the Raleigh Convention Center, where he was handed his diploma from Garner Magnet High School.

Although McCreery has his college years at North Carolina State University and a burgeoning country music career to look forward to, it seems like the young singer was feeling a little nostalgic about leaving high school.

"Ive enjoyed these last 4 years.. wouldnt trade any of them for the world. #iamatrojan," he tweeted to more than 551,000 followers early this morning (June 7). Luckily, plenty of his fans were on hand to tweet messages of encouragement and congratulations to McCreery.

A few hours after his contemplative tweet, McCreery walked across the stage along with his 462 high school classmates. McCreery even got a shoutout during valedictorian Zachary Wilson's commencement speech, in which he quoted lyrics from the 18-year-old singer's hit song, 'Water Tower Town.'

"He's one of our good friends in this class and we're all about community, so why not include one of my good friend's songs," Wilson told local news station NBC 17.

If you saw the rising country star accept his award at the 2012 CMT Music Awards last night, you know that he's a pretty humble guy. In order to prevent making the commencement all about him, McCreery didn't do any interviews after graduating -- and it sounds like no crazy screaming fans made their way into the graduation ceremony. The school provides only eight graduation tickets to each student, which would make it hard for any fanatics to smuggle their way inside.

A high school graduation is all about celebrating what's to come, and we're pretty sure McCreery has a bright future ahead of him.
