Since word spread yesterday of Shania Twain's engagement, the singer has taken to her blog to write her fans an extremely sincere and happy letter about the news.

"I'm in love! Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship."

Twain also opens up in the letter about overcoming the pain she suffered after hearing of the affair between her former best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, and her ex-husband, the famous record producer Robert "Mutt" Lange. Marie-Anne was previously married to Frederic.

"I've spent much time over the course of this past year, learning about others who have suffered loss in their lives and taken inspiration from how they've managed to overcome it," she writes. "I'm learning that grief and the suffering of loss challenges me to be more sensitive and understanding of others and also more accepting of my own struggles. Challenge reminds me how important it is to let those who love me, care for me when I need it."

Additionally, Twain acknowledges the comfort she has received from family, friends and her "beloved fans":

"The support of others has helped me to move forward less fearful of change, allowing me to embrace the beauty of life today and remain more open to whatever it brings tomorrow."

News of Twain's engagement first broke in this week's Us Weekly, which hit stands today. The magazine's cover story has exclusive content on how Thiebaud and Twain's love blossomed while coping with the break-up of their former significant others.

“He’s very affectionate and doting,” says an US Weekly source. “Fred is always taking care of her and making sure she is happy.” Congratulationss to the couple, and to Twain and her newly refound life!
