Taste of Style – A Fashion Recap of Taylor Swift’s Big Week
She’s a worldwide celebrity. She’s a music superstar. Sometimes she’s an actress, but she’s always Taylor Swift and she’s always a fashionista — and she had one heck of a week.
To celebrate her new music and everything that is T. Swift, we’re dedicating an entire Taste of Style to the 24-year-old blonde beauty. The brilliantly white summer ensemble she wore during her live stream, the sexy little VMAs after party outfit, we have all the highlights of Swift’s big week in this week’s Taste of Style.
Live Stream T. Swift
When it was finally time for Swift’s Yahoo! live stream, she showed up in a stylishly summer white dress. During the stream, she let the world know that her music was changing … and her style was perfect for the pop coming out party.
The sleeveless Monica Rose for Lovers + Friends white ensemble was simple, yet so chic! The crop top is made from vegan leather and the skirt and top are both decorated with a band of triangle patterns. Swift’s new shorter ‘do helped the eye focus on her teeny tiny waistline, and the patterned section below her chest let her show a little peek of skin. Although the outfit gathered at the waist, it flared back out for a feminine finish about mid-thigh. She paired the summer white outfit with teal open-toed Monique Lhuillier sandals with an ankle strap.
The ‘Shake It Off’ singer took her live stream threads from a nine to a perfect 10 with the help of her favorite makeup accessory: her red lipstick. After all, if anyone can perfect a daring red lip, it’s this lady! Swift has admitted to thinking the color completes her makeup look.
“I’ll go through different phases with makeup and always try new things,” she tells People. “Except I never really get too far from red lipstick, do I? I guess I just think my face looks worse without it. That’s pretty much the only rationale behind it.”
Although we think she looks beautiful with, or without, any makeup at all, the shade helped complete her big look for a big day!
2014 VMAs Red Carpet T. Swift
Despite having a completely enchanting makeup look, this was our least favorite look of the week. Swift showed up to the 2014 MTV VMAs in this number and she certainly turned a few heads on the red carpet. And yes, that is a onesie.
When she arrived at the 2014 VMAs as an entirely pop princess, she sure looked the part. Swift showed up in blue (which we loved), but the outfit wasn’t our favorite from the singer’s fun-filled week. We weren’t crazy about the Mary Katrantzou romper with alphabet print … we’re pretty sure the singer already knows her alphabet? It left very little to the imagination — especially in the leg area.
Swift’s accessories included Lorraine Schwartz earrings and rings and gold pave bands by Ofira. Although we wish she’d just have opted for yet another crop top and high-waisted skirt, we did love her purple caged Elie Saab shoes. They were sky high and so dreamy!
Shake it off, Taylor, you made up for your fashion faux pas during your performance!
‘Shake It Off’ VMAs Performance T. Swift
Before she even took the stage, we knew Swift would sparkle during her ‘Shake It Off’ performance. She teased fans with a pre-performance Twitter picture showing her jewel-encrusted microphone with her upcoming album title, ‘1989,’ written on it and her strappy silver sandals — with sparkles on the back, of course. “To be prepared for my VMAs performance, I will need this,” the starlet wrote.
Once Swifty’s gal pal Lorde finished introducing her and her “new era,” she immediately shined on the the Forum stage. She got back together with her BFF — the crop top — and it was a much needed change after her red carpet look. She wore a fringed Lorena Sarbu crop with high-waisted shorts. And if you thought the shorts were shining in the stage lights, you were right. They featured hand-beaded Swarovski crystals and fringe, according to Just Jared! We’re drooling.
After-party T. Swift
The fun didn’t stop just because the VMAs were over! Swift, who used Twitter to share her VMAs excitement, took her good mood to an after-party, where she met up with Lorde. The evening called for one more change in outfits, and Swift showed up in a sexy lace LBR (little black romper). The long-sleeved look was much more flattering than her first one that night. The romper’s sleeves were sheer — just the lace was visible and the shorts were cut high enough to show off the tall, slender singer’s long legs. She wore black ankle strap sandals to complete the look.
As far as fashion is concerned, Taylor Swift stole the spotlight this week. She didn’t just drop big news, but she also brought her A-game in the clothing department, and the crystal-filled VMAs performance has us even more addicted to ‘Shake It Off.’ She may be embarking on a totally pop star endeavor with this album, but Swift looks a lot like a supermodel.
