Taylor Swift Donates $10,000 to Autistic Boy for Therapy Dog

One close-knit family got the surprise of a lifetime this week after Taylor Swift saw a video they made to raise money for Jacob Hill, a 5-year-old boy with autism who needed a therapy dog. The boy’s older cousin and sister got together to make the video, changing the words to Swift’s “Blank Space” to encourage people to donate.

Swift saw the video and, as she has been known to do, she stepped in to help. She donated $10,000 toward the family’s $12,500 goal to help them afford the therapy dog and the training it needs. Swift and her mother signed the family’s GoFundMe page with a sweet personal note accompanying the donation, saying “Jacob, we hope you love your new dog! Please tell your cousins that they did a great job on the song! Love, Taylor and Andrea Swift.”

The 12-year-olds — Jordan Fox (Jacob’s sister) and Makaylee Duhon — were shocked to hear the news from Jacob’s mom, Allison. “She was like, ‘Taylor Swift just donated $10,000!” Duhon told KPRC in Houston. “And we were all like, ‘Oh my gosh!'”

The video features the cousins singing together and performing around the house and yard to the camera with the newly minted words scrolling across the bottom, interspersed with photos of Jacob.

“Got a long list of donations, but we don’t see your name,” the spunky girls sing. “We’ve got a blank space, baby, so donate today!”

Swift has a history of helping out fans and lifting spirits, whether it’s visiting them in the hospital, donating to medical costs for cancer patients or taking them to awards shows. She’s currently off the road after wrapping her 1989 World Tour, but she has plans to perform at the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards as the opening act.
