Taylor Swift sliced open her thumb with a kitchen knife before her show in Arlington, Texas on Saturday night (Oct. 17). The singer shared a picture with fans on Instagram, explaining that “Band aids don’t fix kitchen knife-related injuries.”

The thumb on her left hand was wrapped in gauze with her favorite number 13 written in black, for good luck. Few details about what she was cooking, or when and where the accident took place were available. The Arlington stop is part of her 1989 World Tour. It’s not clear how the bandage will affect her live show, if at all.

Chris Young can relate. Last June he sliced his hand badly while cutting an apple. The injury resulted in surgery to repair tendons, and forced the “I’m Comin’ Over” singer to miss his fan club party and LP Field performance during the 2014 CMA Music Festival. Swift’s injury does not appear to be nearly as serious.

Reaction from Swift’s fans ranged from well-wishes, to compliments on her “TS” ring to a reminder that Band Aids don’t fix bullet holes either. Taste of Country is in attendance at Saturday night’s Arlington show, and this post will be updated should Swift share more about the injury.
